Privacy Policy
Pop In is a close-friends availability app. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how users can control or delete their account information.
Last updated: June 11, 2026
Information We Collect
- Account identity, such as email address, phone number if used, verification status, display name, permanent handle, and account status.
- Profile information that you provide, including your profile photo. Profile photos are stored privately and served to the app using limited-use links.
- Friend and safety information, including friend requests, active friendships, private circles you create, removed friendships, blocks, reports, and support/moderation notes.
- Saved host locations that you choose to add, including address fields and geocoding information used to place the location on the map.
- Open Pop In activity, including host, selected host location, selected audience, optional message, start/end time, broadcast choice, and address-visibility acknowledgement.
- Device and notification information needed for iOS push notifications, such as APNs device token, APNs environment, bundle ID, delivery records, and notification metadata.
- Operational information such as request metadata, errors, security logs, and diagnostics needed to operate, secure, debug, and improve the service.
- Support, safety, and moderation information, including reports, support requests, uploaded profile photos, moderation records, and related account or content details that may be reviewed by the operator/admin for support, safety, abuse prevention, enforcement, and legal-compliance purposes.
Age
Pop In is intended for adults 18 and older. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we may delete or disable the account and remove related personal information where appropriate.
Location
Pop In asks for location permission so the app can center the map and make nearby Pop Ins easier to understand. If location is denied, the app remains usable and shows available Pop Ins without nearby framing.
When you open a Pop In, Pop In may use your device's current location to confirm you are near the host location you selected. This check uses your location only at that moment, and the coordinate used for the check is not stored.
Pop In does not track continuous movement or create location trails, and the proximity check above does not change that. Saved host locations are stored only when you choose to add them, and an address is shown to friends only when you open a Pop In to an eligible audience. We may use Apple Maps geocoding and related map metadata to verify or format a saved host location.
You control when and with whom location information is shared. Use caution when sharing locations and only share with people you choose to trust. If you no longer want a location saved, you can delete it from the app.
How We Use Information
- To create and maintain your account.
- To help friends recognize each other through display names, handles, and profile photos.
- To support friend requests, friend circles, blocks, reports, and other safety features.
- To show eligible friends when you are open for a Pop In and, when allowed by your audience selection, the relevant host location during that active window.
- To send account, friend-request, open-window, and safety-related notifications.
- To provide support, investigate reports, prevent abuse, and maintain service reliability.
Sharing
Pop In is designed for friend-based coordination, not public discovery. Other users may see your display name, handle, profile photo, friend-request status, and active Pop In information only where the product flow makes that information visible.
Your saved host address is not a public profile field. It is revealed only to eligible friends during an active Pop In window that you create.
We use service providers to run Pop In, including authentication, hosting, database/storage, Apple Maps/geocoding, analytics/diagnostic tooling where used, and Apple push notification services. These providers process information only as needed to provide those services to us.
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our Terms, investigate abuse, respond to safety concerns, protect users, or report suspected illegal activity.
International Users
Pop In is operated from the United States and currently runs through service providers that may store or process information in the United States or other countries where they operate.
If you use Pop In from the UK, EEA, or another region outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries that may have different data-protection rules than your home country.
Legal Bases
Where UK or EEA privacy law applies, we generally process personal information because it is necessary to provide the service you request, because we have legitimate interests in operating, securing, supporting, and improving Pop In, because we need to comply with legal obligations, or because you have given consent where consent is required.
Deletion And Retention
You can delete your account from Profile in the iOS app. Account deletion removes or anonymizes personal identity fields, clears local app data, removes profile photo access where possible, revokes device tokens, removes friendship/request state where safe, and deletes or disables the associated authentication account.
Deleted accounts and content may not be immediately removed from backups, logs, safety records, or moderation records.
Some records may be retained where reasonably necessary for abuse prevention, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, enforcement of our Terms, protection of users, support history, or to preserve the integrity of reports and moderation decisions. We also may keep limited records needed to document consent, safety actions, or account deletion requests.
Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or export of certain personal information, and you may be able to object to or restrict certain processing.
To make a privacy request, use the support page contact button and include enough information for us to verify and respond to your request.

- We do not sell uploaded profile photos or other user content to third parties.
- We do not use uploaded profile photos for advertising purposes.
- We do not show tracking ads.
- We do not request Contacts access.
